Description
Have you ever looked at a dataset and thought, I know the question I want to ask—but how do I actually get the answer? Or perhaps you’ve developed a new method and are wondering where else it could be useful. Maybe you're curious whether others in the Dutch astronomy community are facing similar data challenges, or have already found creative solutions. If so, this session is for you.
Data science—machine learning, statistics, advanced visualisation and more—is becoming an essential part of how we extract scientific knowledge from astronomical data. There’s already a great deal of data-driven work happening across the Dutch astronomy community, but much of it remains siloed within specific research areas.
As the new NOVA data science coordinators, we’d like to change that! Data science is most powerful when ideas and expertise are shared across scientific boundaries.
This interactive session is a chance to meet others in the Dutch astronomy community who are working with, or curious about, data science. You’ll hear about resources available through NOVA, and help shape how the data science initiative and the community it supports can best support your research. Whether you’re deeply involved in data science or just starting to explore it, we welcome your perspective—at any career stage.
